Night and Day

I'm no photographer, or a painter for that matter (my elementary school art project looks like it came out of the Fire of Rome), but I can appreciate the literal as much as the next person. Often times, people consider success in the field of English lit to be searching for the most outlandish things to say about a piece of literature, but while the trained English fanatic can often times hit the dreamworld nail on the head, the most insightful observations come from those who are simply thinking that the artist must have been maniacal or high at some point during the writing of their book (Nirvana fans are well-trained to idolize the music, not always the lyrics). I guess in that sense it's perfectly fine to take things at face value. Sometimes, art thinks and breathes through the convolutions of the artist's brain- other times, it's sitting in front of you and laughing. So some masks are really just hiding a bigger balloon that the most attentive of us can easily just pop.
