A Tree Story by Evelyn

In the beginning I was a seed. But then I started to grow and finally see the world. I found out that I was a pine tree, a 20-foot-tall pine tree. I lived in Yosemite’s Sierra Bass Lake in California. I saw birds and squirrels. I smelled nature.

I tasted the cold mountain water when I was sprinkled with water. I touched the moistened soil. I heard the birds chirping, people laughing, kids having fun. It was always sunny. My favorite part of the day is the morning time, just around the time the campers wake up, because I get to hear the kids outside. That’s why being a tree is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.
